Mumbai: The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has announced the appointment of Dr. Ajit Ratnakar Joshi as Executive Director (ED). In his new role, he will oversee the Department of Statistics and Information Management as well as the Financial Stability Department.
Dr. Joshi has contributed significantly to policymaking and macroeconomic data analysis, having served as a member of several committees and working groups focusing on macroeconomic statistics and policy issues. Prior to this appointment, he served as the Principal Adviser in the Department of Statistics and Information Management. With over three decades of experience, he has expertise in statistics, information technology, and cyber risk management. He has also served as a faculty member at the Institute of Development and Research in Banking Technology, Hyderabad.
Dr. Joshi holds a Master’s degree in Statistics from Nagpur University and a Ph.D. in Monetary Economics from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras. Additionally, he has earned a Diploma in Development Policy and Planning from the Institute of Economic Growth, Delhi, and is a Certified Associate of the Indian Institute of Banking and Finance.
With his vast experience, Dr. Joshi is expected to strengthen RBI’s statistical and financial stability framework in his new capacity.
