Kolkata: Starting today, the Kolkata Metro Ride App will include a range of new features following its refurbishment.
While the app for the Kokata metro already allowed ticket purchases without standing in queues, these new features would add conveniences for passengers they were demanding for some time.
This mobile app was introduced by Kolkata Metro some time back when passengers could buy tickets even before reaching the metro station.
Just like purchasing local train tickets through UTS (Unreserved Ticketing System), this too became very popular with passengers. However, initial problems required fixes, and these updates address some of them.
One single transaction on the app through online payment will allow a passenger to purchase a maximum number of four tickets at one go. Till now, passengers travelling in groups had to purchase each ticket individually.
Another complaint against the Kolkata Metro Ride app was that passengers had to log in with IDs and passwords every now and then. This would often create hassles during rush hours.
Now, the new feature allows login through a four-digit pin instead of using the password again and again.
