New Delhi:Â Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) has signed a Rs 593.22 crore contract with the Indian Air Force (IAF) to provide maintenance services for the Akash Missile System.
The deal with IAF, excluding taxes, marks one of BEL’s key agreements in the current financial year of 2025-26.
IAF Expands Akash Missile System Maintenance
The contract will ensure continued operational readiness of the Akash Missile System, which BEL had previously supplied to the IAF.
The maintenance agreement reflects ongoing efforts to enhance the system’s lifecycle and performance in line with India’s air defence strategy.
BEL’s Order Pipeline Reaches Rs 5,000 Crore
Apart from the IAF deal, BEL has concluded negotiations for additional orders worth Rs 5,000 crore across various defence projects. While details of these projects remain undisclosed, the agreements indicate BEL’s continued role in India’s defence modernization efforts.
Focus on Indigenous Defence Manufacturing
As a Navratna PSU under the Ministry of Defence, BEL plays a key role in India’s push for self-reliance in defence technology. The latest contract aligns with the government’s Make in India initiative, ensuring domestic expertise in maintaining critical air defence infrastructure.
This agreement follows a series of contracts BEL has secured in recent years as India continues to prioritize indigenous defence production and technology advancements.
