New Delhi: The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT) has signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoUs) with eight organisations to support collaborative efforts in digital skilling, innovation and research, including a state-backed plan to make all 75 districts of Uttar Pradesh AI-skilled.
The MoUs were signed on 25 April at Electronics Niketan, New Delhi and mark a coordinated push under the central government’s Digital India initiative. Present at the signing were S Krishnan, Secretary, Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), as well as senior representatives from participating organisations.
Key Partnerships Signed
NIELIT, an autonomous body under MeitY, partnered with the following eight entities:
Semi-Conductor Laboratory (SCL)
ERNET India
National Institute of Solar Energy (NISE)
Amrita Vishwa Vidyapeetham
SKYROOT Aerospace
Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR)
Kyndryl India
Heartfulness Institute
These collaborations are not commercial in nature but focus on curriculum design, faculty training, joint research, and capacity building. The aim is to support sector-specific skilling and innovation in emerging technologies such as AI, semiconductors, renewable energy, aerospace, and fintech.
AI Skilling in Uttar Pradesh
One notable development linked to these partnerships is the Uttar Pradesh government’s plan to scale AI skilling across all 75 districts. NIELIT is expected to lead the training programs, with support from its wide network of over 9,000 centres and accredited partners. This initiative aligns with India’s broader objective of building a digitally literate and future-ready workforce.
