Bhopal: CtrlS Datacenters Ltd has begun groundwork for a new greenfield datacenter in Bhopal with an investment of Rs 500 crore.
The project marks the company’s entry into Madhya Pradesh and aligns with the state’s broader push to develop Central India as a digital infrastructure hub.
State support and policy alignment
The groundbreaking ceremony, conducted virtually by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav during the Tech Growth Conclave 2025 in Indore on 27 April, underscores the state’s attempt to attract large-scale tech infrastructure through targeted policies. The datacenter will be built on a five-acre land parcel at Badwai IT Park, allotted by the state government.
The project benefits from the state’s IT, ITeS & ESDM Investment Promotion Policy 2023, which offers up to 25 per cent capital expenditure subsidy, and the Global Capability Centres Policy 2025, aimed at attracting over 50 global tech centres.
Facility details and economic impact
The upcoming facility is designed to support high-performance computing, applications of artificial intelligence and large-scale data processing. Once operational, the datacenter is expected to create around 200 direct jobs over multiple phases. Officials estimate that the facility could contribute Rs 15 crore annually in combined state and central GST revenues at full capacity.
CtrlS plans to deploy advanced cooling, energy efficiency, and security systems to ensure round-the-clock uptime and operational reliability. The infrastructure is being positioned as a core node in Central India’s digital network, especially as demand for enterprise data services and AI infrastructure grows.
Strategic expansion beyond Tier One cities
CtrlS, which operates 15 data centres across key tier one markets such as Mumbai, Chennai, Hyderabad and Noida, has gradually expanded into tier two cities like Patna and Lucknow. The Bhopal facility adds to this strategy.
The company has also indicated upcoming projects in GIFT City, Bhubaneswar, and Guwahati, with international expansion plans beginning in Thailand.
