New Delhi, May 12 (APAC Media): The National Testing Agency (NTA) has announced the cancellation of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate), or NEET-UG 2026, which was conducted on May 3, following allegations of a question paper leak and ongoing investigations into examination irregularities.
The decision comes after the Rajasthan Special Operations Group (SOG) initiated action in connection with claims that a “guess paper” circulated before the examination contained several questions closely matching those in the actual test paper. The allegations triggered widespread concern among students and parents regarding the integrity of the country’s largest medical entrance examination.
In an official statement, NTA said the decision to cancel the examination was taken “with the approval of the Government of India” after inputs were examined in coordination with central agencies and findings shared by law enforcement authorities. The agency stated that “the present examination process could not be allowed to stand”.
The NTA further announced that the examination would be re-conducted, and fresh dates along with the revised admit-card schedule would be communicated through official channels in the coming days. Candidates and parents have been advised to rely only on official notifications and avoid misinformation circulating on social media platforms.
The agency clarified that registration details, candidature information, and examination centres selected during the May 2026 cycle would remain valid for the fresh examination. No new registration process will be required for candidates appearing again.
The NTA also confirmed that no additional examination fee would be charged and that fees already paid by candidates would be refunded.
