Chandigarh: Lovely Professional University (LPU) and Broadridge India have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to launch a long-term faculty development program, aiming at the alignment of academic instruction with industry demands.
The partnership between LPU and Broadridge India, formalised on 7 May, introduces a structured “Train the Trainer” program in which Broadridge’s Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) will mentor the university faculty for 16–17 weeks.
The initiative is designed to bridge skill gaps in technical education and better prepare students for careers in emerging technology fields.
Faculty Training Focused on Industry-Relevant Technologies
The program includes 80–90 hours of guided training, featuring weekly live sessions, assignments, case studies and workshops. Faculty will receive course material in advance and participate in hands-on sessions on topics such as:
Product Management
Agile and SAFe methodologies
Cloud & DevOps
Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
Cybersecurity
Once the training concludes, participating faculty will receive certificates of completion. These instructors will then conduct a skill-development bootcamp in June–July 2025 for the B.Tech batch graduating in 2026. The aim is to ensure students receive targeted exposure to technologies currently in demand in the job market.
Starting in 2027, LPU plans to integrate these specialised topics into its B.Tech curriculum as part of a new Open Minor elective track. Students from the fifth semester onward will be able to choose one elective per semester, bringing structured industry knowledge into formal academics.
Speaking on the collaboration, Sheenam Ohrie, Managing Director of Broadridge India, emphasised the role of the industry in shaping the curriculum through faculty engagement.
LPU’s Founder Chancellor and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha), Dr Ashok Kumar Mittal, noted that such collaborations could improve contextual learning for students, making them more adaptable to workplace expectations.
