Bhubaneshwar, May 4 (APAC Media): Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday launched the ShaktiShree mobile application aimed at helping girl students in higher education institutions report harassment-related complaints easily, according to an official release.
The ShaktiShree mobile app is designed to strengthen support systems for female students by improving safety, accessibility, and empowerment across college and university campuses.
The app includes features such as 24-hour SOS alerts, anonymous reporting of harassment, access to mental health support and connectivity with internal complaints committees at institutions.
The CM launched the application during a two-day workshop on the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 held in Bhubaneswar. Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj also attended the workshop.
“Education is not limited to textbooks. It serves as the foundation for innovation, development, and social progress,” Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi said, while reiterating the government’s vision of transforming Odisha into a major knowledge and education hub.
The state head also unveiled the Internship Guidelines Book, which focuses on connecting classroom learning with practical industry exposure. The guidelines aim to encourage internships, community participation, and skill-based education in line with the objectives of NEP 2020.
Majhi later went on to add that Odisha has allocated Rs 41,273 crore for the education sector in the 2025–26 budget, which will help upgrade educational infrastructure and create better opportunities for students across the state.
Suryabanshi Suraj described the launch of the ShaktiShree app and internship guidelines as an important step towards strengthening higher education in the state.
“NEP 2020 is not just a policy framework but a national mission aimed at positioning India as a global knowledge hub. Innovation and skill development will play a crucial role in preparing the country’s future workforce,” Minister Pradhan said at the event.
Pradhan further said that nearly 70 per cent of Odisha’s population is below the age of 44, offering immense scope for innovation and growth.
“Education today is not only about earning degrees but also about building capabilities and practical skills,” he added.
Stakeholders were urged to work towards raising Odisha’s Gross Enrolment Ratio (GER) in higher education beyond the national average by 2036.
