New Delhi: In a major step towards digital transformation in the healthcare sector, Delhi Health Minister Pankaj Singh announced the government’s plan to implement a comprehensive Health Management Information System (HMIS) across all public hospitals. The initiative aims to streamline healthcare delivery through real-time data monitoring and digital integration of services.
Unified Dashboard for Real-Time Insights
The Health Department plans to set up a centralised healthcare control room equipped with a robust dashboard. This dashboard will provide real-time data on bed availability, medicine stocks, diagnostic trends, and resource utilisation across all Delhi hospitals. The system will also facilitate centralised alerts and generate actionable insights to improve governance and decision-making in the healthcare sector.
One Stop Platform for All Healthcare Services
The HMIS will serve as a unified digital platform where data from all healthcare facilities, ranging from primary health centres to super-specialty hospitals, can be accessed through a single dashboard. The digital platform is designed to eliminate inefficiencies, empower healthcare providers, and ensure seamless access to care for patients across Delhi.
Integration with National Health Initiatives
The system will be integrated with the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM) and include features such as digital patient registration, appointments, billing, diagnostics, and ward management. Patients will be able to access their prescriptions, lab reports, and discharge summaries through mobile apps and WhatsApp. Consent-based digital sharing of health records will be facilitated through ABHA (Ayushman Bharat Health Account) IDs, ensuring privacy and interoperability.
Enhancing Accountability and Efficiency
Additional tools such as voice-to-text transcription for prescriptions, performance analytics for doctors, and data on medicine usage and diagnostic loads will further enhance the efficiency and accountability of the system.
