Bhopal: Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav on Sunday laid the foundation stone for the ‘Bhoj-Narmada Dwar’ in Bhopal and virtually inaugurated a 10-megawatt solar power plant in Neemuch, intended to support the city’s water supply infrastructure.
The ‘Bhoj-Narmada Dwar’, proposed at Samardha along Narmadapuram Road, is part of a state-led initiative to install nine thematic gateways at key entry points to Bhopal.
According to officials, these structures will feature references to important historical and cultural sites across Madhya Pradesh, with a focus on the Narmada River and figures like Raja Bhoj.
CM Yadav said the initiative seeks to embed cultural heritage into the urban landscape while fostering a sense of identity among younger generations. He added that key historical personalities have already been introduced into school curricula, aligning education policy with heritage promotion.
The gateway is expected to be constructed at a cost of five crore, as confirmed by Bhopal Mayor Malti Rai.
Parallel to the cultural initiative, the Chief Minister also inaugurated a solar plant in Neemuch, developed by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation (BMC). The 10MW facility is designed to supply electricity for the operation of Bhopal’s water supply system.
Urban Development and Housing Minister Kailash Vijayvargiya noted that the project is part of a broader strategy to enhance energy self-sufficiency at the municipal level. Officials highlighted that using solar power for essential urban services marks a step toward more sustainable governance practices in the state.
