New Delhi: The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has announced the appointment of IPS Dr. Sunil Gupta as Deputy Director/Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in the Bureau of Police Research and Development (BPR&D). He is a 2007-batch officer of the Jammu & Kashmir–AGMUT cadre. The appointment is on a deputation basis, according to official MHA orders.
Dr. Gupta brings with him a wealth of experience in policing and administration across the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir. He is widely recognised for his professional competence and dedication to public service.
The BPR&D, functioning under the MHA, is tasked with driving police modernisation in India through research, policy development, training, and best practice formulation. In his new role, Dr. Gupta is expected to play a crucial part in advancing police reforms, strategic planning, and capacity building nationwide. His appointment underscores the government’s focus on strengthening policing systems through experienced leadership and institutional innovation.
