Aizawl: The Commission of Railway Safety (CRS) has commissioned and authorised the Bairabi-Sairang railway line in Mizoram on 10 June.
This marks the full integration of the state into the national railway network. The 51.38 Km broad gauge line was commissioned and authorised after inspection.
The final 33.86 Km stretch from Hortoki to Sairang was inspected between 6 and 10 June. This stretch passed through a hilly terrain, including 32 tunnels and 35 major bridges.
This has brought direct rail connectivity to Aizawl for the first time. This will significantly enhance passenger and freight movement and stimulate the socio-economic growth of Mizoram.
