Thiruvananthapuram: The Government of Kerala has appointed senior IPS Ravada A. Chandrasekhar as the new Director General of Police (DGP) and State Police Chief.Â
He succeeds Dr. Shaik Darvesh Saheb, a 1990 batch IPS officer, who retired after an illustrious career in the Indian Police Service.
Chandrasekhar, a 1991 batch officer of the Kerala cadre, is currently serving on central deputation as Special Director in the Intelligence Bureau. He will formally assume charge after repatriation to the state.
To ensure administrative continuity, the state government has assigned the additional charge of State DGP to IPS H. Venkatesh (1998 batch) until Chandrasekhar officially takes over.
Although Chandrasekhar’s regular service is due to end on July 31, 2025, his appointment carries a fixed two-year tenure, extending his term until June 30, 2027. This move ensures long-term stability in Kerala’s police leadership and underlines the state’s focus on strategic and consistent law enforcement administration.
