New Delhi: Â Senior IAS Rahul Bhanudas Mali has been appointed as Deputy Secretary in the Ministry of Women and Child Development (WCD), Government of India.Â
The appointment, made under the Central Staffing Scheme, was confirmed through an official order issued by the Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT). A 2016-batch officer from the Nagaland cadre, Mali will serve in the role for four years or until further orders. His tenure will begin from the date he assumes charge.
In this new position, Mali will help shape and implement key national policies focused on the welfare of women and children. The ministry is currently driving several critical programs, including POSHAN Abhiyaan, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, and the Saksham Anganwadi Scheme. These initiatives aim to address child nutrition, women’s safety, and empowerment across India.
Mali has earned recognition for his administrative abilities and understanding of policy at the state level. In Nagaland, he previously held key roles in the planning and development departments, where he contributed to several important initiatives.
Mali’s transition to the WCD Ministry is seen as a move that will bring field-level insight into central policy-making. It is also expected to strengthen the execution of gender- and child-focused programs nationwide.
