Srinagar: The Jammu and Kashmir Police has announced the deployment of an advanced Artificial Intelligence (AI)-enabled security grid aimed at strengthening internal security in the Union Territory amid continued threats from Pakistan-backed terrorism.
The new system is expected to significantly improve surveillance coverage, intelligence collection, and real-time response capabilities across both border regions and hinterland areas.
The decision follows deliberations held at the recent Pan-India Directors General and Inspectors General of Police (DGP/IGP) Conference in Raipur, where the use of emerging technologies in policing and national security was a key focus.
Officials said the initiative reflects the government’s push to adopt cutting-edge tools while ensuring responsible and ethical use of technology.
According to the police, the AI-driven grid will support multiple operational areas. In forensic investigations, AI-based applications will help speed up evidence processing by enabling automated pattern analysis of ballistic data and faster DNA sequencing.
This is expected to sharply cut down investigation timelines, improving the overall efficiency and effectiveness of law enforcement operations in the region.
