New Delhi: Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman held a meeting with a high-level Russian delegation led by First Deputy Prime Minister Denis Manturov to discuss bilateral cooperation in investment, banking and finance.
The meeting included senior Russian officials, Economic Development Minister Maxim Reshetnikov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov and Central Bank Chair Elvira Nabiullina, along with representatives from India’s Department of Economic Affairs, Department of Financial Services, RBI and the Ministry of External Affairs.
According to an official statement, both sides expressed confidence in achieving “strong outcomes” at the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit scheduled for 5 December. Manturov also conveyed Russia’s strong support for India’s upcoming BRICS chairship.
Meanwhile, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and Russia’s Federal Customs Service (FCS) signed an agreement enabling faster border clearance of consignments through pre-arrival information exchange. CBIC said the arrangement will enhance security, transparency and efficiency in cross-border trade.
