Baramati: Ajit Pawar, Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister, passed away on January 28 after his aircraft crashed while attempting to land in Baramati, Maharashtra.
The Civil Aviation Ministry has confirmed that the Learjet 45 (VT-SSK) aircraft, operated by VSR, crash-landed at Baramati airport early this morning. There were five personnel on board, including Maharashtra Deputy CM Ajit Pawar, along with two more personnel (1 PSO and 1 attendant) and two crew (PIC+FO) members.
Pawar was on his way to Baramati to address four public meetings in preparation for the Zila Parishad elections when the event occurred.
The Maharashtra Airport Development Company reportedly took over the operation of Baramati Airport from a private operator. While further information on the situation is awaited, sources informed that there was a fog issue in the area, which may have caused the flight to crash.
