Kolkata: West Bengal is overhauling the infrastructure of nearly 430 schools across the state.
These schools will be developed as model schools and equipped with smart classrooms, laboratories, digital infrastructure and enhanced sports facilities.
Out of these 430 schools, two will be established in each of the 87 underdeveloped blocks.
The remaining blocks will have one school each under the “Enhancing School Education in West Bengal” project.
The project will have an outlay of Rs 2349.78 crore. The Asian Development Bank (ADB) will fund 70% of this, while the rest will be funded by the state government.
According to Education Minister Bratya Basu, this Rs 1600+ crore assistance from ADB will strengthen school infrastructure, advance technology integration and promote modern scientific techniques at the school level.
Last but not the least, this initiative will ensure sustainable improved educational development across the state and even arrest the dropout rate in schools.
