Kolkata: The West Bengal government has initiated the process of handing over 105 acres of land to the BSF.
The idea is to strengthen border security and facilitate the construction of fencing and border outposts.
The total requirement involved 67 acres of land to install barbed wire fencing along a 17 km stretch.
Another 18 acres will be used to construct nine border outposts. The district administration will purchase the land from the owners and transfer it to the BSF.
Additionally, a proposal to transfer 25 acres of state land across 9 border locations to the BSF has also been approved.
This will be to bolster infrastructure and surveillance along the border.
These approvals were made by a panel formed by the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and include the urban development and municipal affairs Minister, the power Minister and the Minister of state for finance.
