Noida, May 29 (APAC Media): The government on Friday said that adequate stocks of diesel, LPG, natural gas and crude oil are available in the country, with refineries operating at optimum capacity and LPG production touching a record level of around 92 thousand metric tonnes per day.
“India continues to maintain comfortable fuel stocks across the supply chain. There is no disruption in availability,†an official statement.
According to the government, no LPG distributorship has reported any dry-out situation so far, while overall supplies remain stable across regions.
However, it noted that some districts have recorded higher sales of petrol and diesel due to increased agricultural demand and changing consumption patterns.
“On 25th May, the Government of India issued a Gazette notification providing that consumers holding both PNG and LPG connections will have an option. They may either terminate their LPG connection within 30 days or obtain a transfer voucher. This transfer voucher will ensure that whenever they shift to a non-PNG area, they will be able to get an LPG connection,†Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas, said.
“Supply position remains stable. Consumers are advised not to resort to panic buying or hoarding,†the statement added.
Authorities have advised state governments, union territories and industry associations to remain alert against hoarding and black marketing while urging consumers to purchase fuel only through authorised channels.
Since March, over 8.3 lakh PNG connections have been commissioned and around 8.5 lakh new consumers added to the network, officials noted.
In the last four days alone, 1.78 crore LPG refill bookings were received and nearly 1.8 crore cylinders were delivered, with 96 per cent of deliveries authenticated digitally.
“The scale of LPG delivery operations reflects strong backend logistics and uninterrupted supply management,†an official said.
Enforcement agencies and oil marketing companies have intensified inspections across the country, resulting in fuel seizures, registration of FIRs, arrests and action against errant dealers and distributors.
“Strict action is being taken wherever irregularities are detected,†another official expressed.
Commercial LPG supplies remain robust, while natural gas availability for industrial and commercial consumers has been restored to about 99 per cent, the government added.
Reiterating its position, the government said fuel availability remains comfortable nationwide. “There are sufficient stock and no need for unnecessary stocking,†the statement said.
Officials further said that real-time monitoring systems, field inspections and coordinated efforts between the centre, states and oil marketing companies are being used to ensure smooth supply and prevent disruptions in distribution chains.
