Chandigarh, June 17 (APAC Media): Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini and Israeli Ambassador to India Reuven Azar jointly inaugurated the 35th Indo-Israel Centre of Excellence (CoE) in India at Munimpur in Jhajjar district, marking another milestone in the growing agricultural partnership between the two countries.
The new facility is Haryana’s sixth Centre of Excellence established under the Indo-Israel Agricultural Project (IIAP), a bilateral initiative aimed at enhancing farm productivity, promoting crop diversification, and improving water-use efficiency through advanced agricultural technologies.
According to the Israeli Embassy in India, more than 3,500 farmers attended the inauguration ceremony, which was also attended by Haryana Agriculture Minister Shyam Singh Rana.
India-Israel Agricultural Cooperation
The Indo-Israel Agricultural Project was launched under a government-to-government agreement between India and Israel to introduce modern farming practices and innovative agricultural technologies tailored to local conditions.
The Centres of Excellence serve as demonstration and training facilities where farmers can learn about advanced cultivation techniques, nursery management, irrigation systems, fertigation practices, and other modern agricultural solutions developed in Israel.
The initiative aims to support farmers by improving crop yields, optimising the use of water resources, and encouraging the adoption of scientific farming methods.
Through these centres, Israeli expertise and agri-technologies can be locally adapted and shared with local farming communities.
Multi-Agency Collaboration
The project is implemented through a partnership involving the Government of India, state governments, and Israel’s Agency for International Development Cooperation (MASHAV).
While the Centre and state governments provide policy support, land, staffing and funding, MASHAV offers technical guidance, professional expertise and technology transfer to ensure effective implementation of the Centres of Excellence.
This joint initiative continues to play a key role in strengthening agricultural innovation and supporting farmers through improved productivity and sustainable farming practices.
