New Delhi, June 8 (APAC Media): Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah will launch the Land Port Management System (LPMS) in New Delhi on Tuesday, marking a significant step towards technology-driven border management.
The initiative aligns with the Government of India’s vision of improving efficiency, transparency, and security in cross-border trade and passenger movement through digital solutions.
During the event, Shah will also inaugurate newly developed accommodation facilities for stakeholders at the Dawki Land Port in Meghalaya and the Srimantapur Land Port in Tripura, aimed at strengthening support infrastructure for border personnel and other stakeholders.
LPMS is an integrated digital platform that will streamline operations across land ports through a unified system. It enables secure and real-time exchange of logistics and regulatory information, bringing land port operations closer to the digital standards already adopted at airports and seaports.

As an open and neutral platform, LPMS will facilitate seamless coordination among government agencies, logistics providers, and private operators, helping reduce procedural delays and improve overall operational efficiency.
The system introduces end-to-end digital processes for both cargo and passenger movement, including slot booking, online payments, tracking, and single-window clearances. It is also integrated with major national platforms such as ICEGATE, ULIP, and the motor vehicle ecosystem, enabling greater interoperability and transparency.
The Land Ports Authority of India (LPAI), functioning under the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Department of Border Management, is responsible for developing and managing land ports to promote trade, connectivity, and regional cooperation.
At present, LPAI manages 15 land ports across India’s international borders with Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Bangladesh, and Myanmar, serving as critical gateways for trade, travel, and cross-border engagement.
