New Delhi, July 24(APAC Media): Apple has released the second public beta of iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 for eligible iPhone and iPad users ahead of the official rollout expected later this year. The latest beta focuses on bug fixes, performance improvements and overall system stability, while continuing to expand Apple Intelligence features introduced with iOS 27. The update is available through Apple’s Beta Software Program and can be installed without a developer account.
The biggest highlight of iOS 27 remains the redesigned Siri powered by Apple Intelligence. The upgraded voice assistant can understand follow-up requests without users repeating previous commands, recognise on-screen content and search information across apps such as Mail, Messages, Notes, Calendar and Reminders. Siri can also perform supported actions within compatible third-party apps and use Visual Intelligence in the Camera app to create Wallet passes from barcodes or add event details from printed flyers.
Apple has also refreshed Screen Time with a redesigned dashboard and new parental controls. Parents can now set category-based limits for apps such as Games, Entertainment and Social Media, while separate schedules can be created for school hours, evenings and weekends.
Other additions include background uploads for large media files in Messages, full-resolution Shared Albums in Photos, the ability to save any video frame as an image, separate alarm volume controls, extra-large Home Screen widgets, an equaliser for compatible AirPods and improved HomeKit Secure Video support.
The iOS 27 public beta is available for the iPhone 11 series and newer models, including the second-generation iPhone SE. However, Apple Intelligence features, including the new Siri experience, are limited to iPhone 15 Pro models and newer devices. Users are advised to back up their devices before installing the beta software, as pre-release versions may contain bugs and app compatibility issues.
