Agra, July 31 (APAC Media): The Uttar Pradesh Government has launched the Mukhyamantri Shikshak Cashless Chikitsa Suvidha Yojana, offering cashless healthcare of up to ₹5 lakh to over 1.28 lakh teachers, non-teaching staff and their dependent family members.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath launched the scheme during his visit to Agra. The Higher Education Department also signed an MoU with Punjab National Bank (PNB) to provide additional insurance and social security benefits.
₹5 Lakh Cashless Treatment in Uttar Pradesh
The scheme covers teachers, employees and their dependents from:
- State universities
- Government-aided colleges
- Self-financed colleges
- Self-financed courses
Beneficiaries will receive cashless treatment of up to ₹5 lakh at empanelled government and private hospitals.
The cover becomes effective from the day the health card is issued. It includes hospitalisation, medicines and treatment expenses under the scheme guidelines.
More Than 1,900 Treatment Packages
The scheme offers over 1,900 treatment packages. These include treatment for cancer, heart diseases, kidney ailments, complex surgeries and other critical illnesses.
It will be implemented through SACHIS at rates fixed under the Ayushman Bharat framework.
The government has also launched an online registration portal. A statewide health card distribution drive will follow.
Additional Insurance Through PNB
The Higher Education Department has partnered with Punjab National Bank to provide additional insurance benefits.
The package includes:
- Personal accident cover of up to ₹1.5 crore
- Air accident cover of up to ₹3 crore
- Hospital cash benefit of up to ₹60,000
- Term life insurance of up to ₹12 lakh
The initiative aims to strengthen the financial security of teachers and employees.
Uttar Pradesh CM Reviews Development Works
During his visit, CM Yogi also reviewed development projects and the law-and-order situation in Agra.
He expressed concern over roads damaged during Jal Jeevan Mission pipeline works. Officials were directed to ensure timely restoration.
The Chief Minister warned that contractors responsible for poor-quality work could be blacklisted. Action, including FIRs, may also be taken against officials where required.
Focus on Public Welfare
CM Yogi directed officials not to remove street vendors without providing alternative vending spaces as per government rules.
He also asked the Health Department to resolve pending Ayushman card issues and clear dues of empanelled hospitals without delay.
Reviewing the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme, he instructed officials to ensure that education funds transferred to parents are used for their intended purpose.
