Gold rates remained close to record-high levels across major Indian markets, although prices varied slightly from one city to another depending on local demand, taxes and jewellers’ pricing.
In the international market, spot gold advanced around 0.5 per cent to $4,540.18 an ounce and was headed for its third straight weekly gain. Silver prices also moved higher during the session.
A weaker US dollar generally supports dollar-denominated gold by making the metal relatively cheaper for buyers holding other currencies. Investors have also continued to seek safe-haven assets amid uncertainty over global economic conditions and geopolitical developments.

Domestic futures prices followed the international trend. Gold and silver contracts on the Multi Commodity Exchange (MCX) traded higher during the morning session.
Analysts said investor attention remains focused on US monetary policy, interest-rate expectations, currency movements and global economic data, which could influence precious metal prices in the near term.
For consumers, the quoted bullion rates do not necessarily represent the final price of jewellery. Retail buyers may have to pay additional amounts towards making charges, goods and services tax (GST) and other applicable costs.
Market participants are expected to closely monitor global cues and currency movements for further direction in gold and silver prices.
