New Delhi, September 13(APAC Media): Hyundai Motor Group is expanding its work on advanced driver-assistance technology, with its proprietary software platform Atria now targeted for vehicles from late 2029.
Before that, Hyundai plans to introduce more advanced Level 2+ and Level 2++ driver-assistance features in 2028 through a partnership with Nvidia. The approach will allow Hyundai to deploy new capabilities while continuing development of its own software platform.
Nvidia Partnership To Support Development
Hyundai will co-design the technology with Nvidia and use driving data from the systems to train and improve Atria. Park Min-woo, a Hyundai Motor Group president and former Nvidia executive, said the partnership is intended to support Hyundai’s long-term software strategy.
The company plans to use Nvidia’s Hyperion 10 platform in its initial advanced driver-assistance systems. These vehicles will rely on cameras, radar and ultrasonic sensors, while Hyundai is also evaluating lidar for future Level 3 driving systems.
Hyundai Builds Data Advantage
Hyundai and Kia plan to use their large global vehicle fleet to collect driving data for autonomous driving development. The company expects its accumulated driving data to become a key part of improving its in-house software.
The strategy gives Hyundai two parallel paths: faster deployment of advanced driver assistance through Nvidia and continued development of its own Atria platform. The company is also expanding its broader Nvidia collaboration across AI data centres and robotics.
