Dr. Indu Bhushan, CEO Ayushman Bharat & CEO – National Health Authority has tweeted “Historic day today. PM Modi announces National Digital Health Mission which will strengthen healthcare delivery for all citizens bridging the gap amongst doctors, hospitals, & citizens through a unified digital ecosystem.”
“Prime Minister has keen interest in digital health and because of him, India will become a world leader in digital Health, said Prof. Rajendra Pratap Gupta, Chairman, Drafting Committee, Digital Health Standards.
“The NDHM will be transformational. It will now ensure a continuum of care, keeping the patient at the Centre. This is a big step in getting the ecosystem of providers, insurance and digital health players to work together and make Indian healthcare accessible, affordable, standardized and patient-centric. The NDHM will change the way healthcare is consumed and provided in India. It is the right time especially for digital health companies to look at it as a service to our nation as well as a huge opportunity,” said Gautam Chopra, CEO & Co-Founder, BeatO.
With the formal launch of the NDHM, today our Prime Minister ushered in the first step for a long journey towards digital health. Hopefully, the health outcomes of people in India will also improve through interoperability enabled digital health interventions, said Supten Sarbadhikari, Digital Health Expert.
National Digital Health Mission and Health ID/PHR announcement by our PM is a welcome move and will revolutionize the current health sector. Congratulations to all. All of you will have a crucial role to play in the emerging digital health framework, said Vikram Thaploo, CEO – TeleHealth at Apollo Hospitals Group.
National Digital Health Mission (NDHM) is a significant milestone in India’s digital health journey. The citizen’s access to longitudinal health records will provide significant benefits such as improving the patient outcome, reducing medical errors and avoiding the duplication of services. We need to ensure that NDHM architecture is scalable and secure to address the needs of the entire population. The real success of NDHM will be measured in terms of the adoption of NDHM by citizens, given the voluntary opt-in model that we are following unlike the countries which successfully rolled out National Electronic Health Record (EHR) embracing the opt-out model. We need to strengthen the NDHM with necessary regulatory framework and ensure that the patient privacy is protected at every level said,
Jeyaseelan Jeyaraj, President, HIMSS India Chapter.
National Digital Health Mission has created a huge opportunity for the entire healthcare ecosystem from managing patient health records to remote monitoring to using emerging technologies and ensuring the right interventions. This is a welcome move by the Government of India which will play an important role in our country’s healthcare transformation movement. Besides, it will nurture local innovations which are the essence of AtmaNirbhar Bharat Mission, said Gopi Arora, Co-Founder & Group Editor, APAC Digital News Network.
