Delhi: With a sudden rise in Covid-19 cases, several state governments are insisting that people entering their respective states need to carry a Covid-19 report. This is seen as a new trend. Earlier only a couple of states insisted but with the surge in Covid-19 cases many other states are following suit.
People travelling to Delhi especially from Maharashtra, Kerala, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh and Punjab will have to show a negative RT-PCR test to enter the national capital. People would have to carry the report whether they travel by train, bus or air. An order to this effect is expected to be issued later in the day.
According to sources, the order would be effective till March 15. The issue was discussed in a special meeting convened by the Delhi Disaster Management Authority (DDMA).
The sudden spike in cases prompted Maharashtra State Government to announce a ban on political and religious gatherings followed by imposing fresh lockdowns in Pune and Amravati.
In a new trend, even state governments are insisting people from certain states to carry RT-PCR test. The state of Kerala for instance, for months has been insisting on tests.
Maharashtra also requires people from Gujarat, Delhi-NCR, Goa, Rajasthan and Kerala to show negative RT-PCR test irrespective of their mode of travel. Similarly, Uttarakhand government has also made the Covid-19 test mandatory for people coming from Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh.
STATE WISE RULES
- Manipur has made the Covid-19 test mandatory for passengers coming from Maharashtra and Kerala.
- In Assam, all passengers, irrespective of their mode of travel, need to conduct a swab or antigen test on arrival.
- Passengers travelling to Meghalaya will either need to present an RT-PCR test, not earlier than 72 hours prior to arrival or will have to undergo a test at the airport.
