On Tuesday, Â the union government put questions on the business practiced by Tesla, electric car company who allegedly has seek tax breaks to use the Indian market to sell its products. However, they have not started the manufacturing facility in India yet causing a large scale of loss in job opportunity.
The government in 2015 launched a scheme to promote the adoption of electric/hybrid vehicles (EVs) in the country. The main aim was to reduce dependency on fossil fuels.
Initially, this scheme launched by the Ministry of Heavy Industries, the government has formulated a scheme, Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of (Hybrid &) Electric Vehicles in India (FAME India) Scheme was highly appreciated.
However, at present the graph shows a fall from 12 percent to 5 percent GST on electric vehicles as well as reduction of 18 percent to 5 percent has been seen in the charging stations for electric vehicles.
Relaxing this a period of 5 years has been decided for Phase-II of FAME India Scheme which will be on effect from April 12, 2019, with total budgetary support of Rs 10,000 crore.
