Pune: Symbiosis Institute of Technology’s Civil Engineering department recently hosted a placement drive for Godrej Properties for the 2022 batch and 2023 passing out batch. A total of 16 students were selected for varied roles including Project Execution, Costing and Budgeting, Contract and Procurement, and Planning. 14 students of the 2023 batch have cracked the stringent selection process and grabbed paid internships of 6 months (with a stipend of INR 25000/- per month) in their last semester of engineering along with pre-placement offer with CTC post confirmation up to 8 lakhs.
The officials of the Placement cell stated that the construction sector is booming and is reflected in such bulk placement drives. The Head of the Civil Engineering department, SIT added that the students are very well groomed to face technical interviews.
The Digital era has added edge to construction and manufacturing replacing age-old practices. SIT imparts training in artificial intelligence, the internet of things, digital surveying technologies, and laboratory simulations to provide ample exposure to the latest technologies important for all round development of future civil engineers. The extensive and industry-ready B.Tech and M.Tech programs enable students to deep dive into the world of engineering.
Keeping in line with the pedagogy focusing on experiential learning, SIT has a plethora of collaborations with Nanyang Technological University, Singapore; Ingolstadt University, Germany; Purdue School of Engineering, IUPUI, USA; and Leibniz University, Hannover to name some. Honors/minor courses are available in all disciplines for students who want to gain in-depth knowledge in a specialized area that will help them in their future development. Students are allowed to work on various technical projects in groups under the supervision of faculty members, with the end result being paper publications/patents.
Established in 2008, SIT Pune currently offers B.Tech programmes in Civil Engineering, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, and Robotics & Automation, and M.Tech programmes in Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning, Robotics & Automation and Embedded Systems. Research programmes leading to PhD degrees were introduced in the Faculty of Engineering of Symbiosis International University in 2010.
