Hyderabad: GITAM (deemed to be university) has signed an agreement with Cheongju University to extend ongoing partnership on renewable wind energy project. The two institutions will be cooperating in matters of academia and research.
The five-year agreement will allow the institutions to promote exchanging of knowledge, information, and materials that are of mutual interest. It will also boost exchange of academic and administrative staff, research staff, and student internships in both countries.
Under the Indo-Korean project, GITAM Hyderabad has commissioned four on-campus small wind turbines. In addition to this, 16 more such turbines are being commissioned nationwide. In the future, GITAM is also planning to set up a data center for analyzing the wind data from any location where Archimedes wind turbines are placed.
The agreement was signed by officials, GITAM Hyderabad, pro-vice chancellor, DS Rao and Cheongju University representative, Yong Jin Chung in the presence of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University Hyderabad, vice chancellor, K Rajagopal.
Speaking about the project, GITAM School of Technology, head, department of mechanical engineering, Srinivas Pendyala, said: “The ongoing Indo-Korean wind energy project is a crucial one for GITAM and monitors wind data and compares the performance of Indian and Korean models. GITAM addresses the technical aspects associated with wind turbines.”
