New Delhi: The Central government has issued orders of appointment for new CBIC chairman and its member.
1988 batch IRS (C&IT) Officer Sanjay Kumar Agarwal has been appointed as new chairman of Central Board of Indirect Taxes & Customs (CBIC). He was serving as Member, CBIC.
1989 batch IRS (C&IT) officer Surjit Bhujabal has been appointed as Member, CBIC. He was serving as Principal Director General, DGGI, Delhi. He will take the place of Sanjay Kumar Agarwal.
The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved these two appointments. A finance ministry order said that Mr Agarwal as the Chairman of CBIC with the status of special secretary to the government of India. Agarwal’s appointment is effective from the date of his assumption of charge.
The appointment of the new Chairman comes after the superannuation of Vivek Johri as the Chairman of the CBIC.
