New Delhi: IPS officer Nina Singh, who is currently posted as Special Director General of the Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) at its headquarter in Delhi, has been assigned the additional charge of CISF director general. According to a home ministry order, this decision comes due to the retirement of its serving chief, Sheel Vardhan Singh, on August 31.
Nina Singh, a 1989-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer, will be holding this post until further orders or till the appointment of a regular incumbent, whichever is earlier.
CISF is a federal police organization, and a part of the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF), under the Ministry of Home Affairs. The CISF aims to provide security for government infrastructure projects and industrial units, including space installations, mines, atomic power plants, oil fields, airports and many more. It currently includes over 1.76 lakh personnel.
Sheel Vardhan Singh IPS officer of the 1986-batch, was appointed CISF DG in November 2021. Nina Singh, an IPS officer of the 1989-batch, is from the Rajasthan cadre, and is the first female DG of Rajasthan. Her husband, Rohit Kumar Singh, is an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer and the Union consumer affairs secretary.
