Lucknow: The Government of India recently approved a third service extension for IAS officer Durga Shanker Mishra, the Chief Secretary of Uttar Pradesh, extending his tenure until June 30, 2024.
This decision will see his continued tenure in the state administration, spanning beyond the completion of the general elections and the formation of a new government at the Centre.
Mishra had previously received one-year service extensions on December 30, 2022, and December 29, 2021. The latest extension, granted on December 30, 2023, comes a day before the conclusion of his second extension.
The Department of Personnel and Training (DoPT), under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances, and Pensions, issued an order stating that Bhupinder Pal Singh, Under-Secretary to the Government of India, received a letter from the Uttar Pradesh government requesting a six-month service extension for Chief Secretary Mishra.
