New Delhi: Google Health and Apollo Radiology International in India have collaborated to leverage artificial intelligence (AI) for early disease detection, focusing on high-mortality diseases such as tuberculosis (TB), lung cancer, and breast cancer.
TB claims over 1.3 million lives every year globally. The lack of enough trained radiologists and few diagnostic tools in rural areas make the situation worse. To help, Google Health made an AI system that can interpret chest X-rays for TB signs early, making the diagnosis process and treatment faster.
Lung and breast cancer screenings need special skills. AI makes them easier, helping in the identification of incidental nodules and improving the efficiency of mammogram interpretation.
The collaboration plans to offer 3 million free AI screenings for TB, lung cancer, and breast cancer in the next 10 years, improving access to timely healthcare for thousands of individuals across India.
