Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister of State for Electronics and IT, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, and Jal Shakti, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, recently pledged to empower Thiruvananthapuram’s youth with future-ready skills.
Speaking at Mar Ivanios College, Chandrasekhar promised that nearly 4 lakh young individuals in Kerala will be trained under the Pradhan Mantri Kaushal Vikas Yojana (PMKVY) 4.0 over the next three years. This initiative aims to equip participants with cutting-edge skills in fields like 3D Printing, AI, Drone Manufacturing, and Electronic Hardware Assembly, and much more.
During the event, the minister distributed certificates to students who completed a German Certificate Course by the National Skill Development Corporation, leading to job offers in Germany with impressive monthly salaries of Rs. 2 lakh. Additionally, Chandrasekhar launched a Language Proficiency Program by the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.
Chandrasekhar stressed the transformative power of combining knowledge with skills, envisioning a future where Kerala’s youth are no longer sidelined due to a lack of opportunities. The minister also pointed out Apple’s manufacturing expansion in India as a testament to how talent and skill development can attract significant investments, questioning why similar developments could not happen in Kerala.
