Pune: The Maharashtra state government has announced the transfer of 10 IPS officers to various departments. IPS Ranjan Kumar Sharma, the Special Inspector General of Police, has been appointed as the Joint Police Commissioner of Pune.
The reorganization, effective immediately, is designed to optimize operations and realign responsibilities within the police force. Amitabh Gupta, who was previously the Additional Director-General (ADG) of the state prisons department in Pune, has been transferred to the special cell in Mumbai.
In the same vein, ADG Sunil Ramanand, who was previously responsible for the state wireless department in Pune, will now oversee the planning and coordination division in Mumbai. The adjustments were detailed in a notification issued by Venkatesh Bhat, the Joint Secretary of the state home department.
Ranjan Kumar Sharma, the Special Inspector-General (IG) of the state criminal investigation department in Pune, has been transferred to Pune and assigned the position of Joint Commissioner of Police.
ADG Pravin Salunkhe is also transferring from the special cell in Mumbai to serve as the state railway police commissioner in the same city. Suresh Mekla, who was previously the Controller of Weights and Measures in Mumbai, will now serve as the ADG of the state traffic police in Mumbai. ADG Deepak Pandey, who was previously responsible for the prevention of atrocities against women and children in Mumbai, has been transferred to the wireless department in Pune.
Additional modifications include the transfer of Special Inspector General Subhash Warke from the state law and order branch in Mumbai to the Prevention of Women and Children atrocities wing. Ashwati Dorje, the Joint Chief of the Nagpur police, has been appointed as the Special Inspector General of the state human rights commission in Mumbai.
Chering Dorje, formerly of the Nagpur police range, will now be the Special Inspector General of Law and Order in Mumbai. Special Inspector General D K Bhujbal, who was previously employed by the state criminal investigation department in Pune, has been transferred to the Nagpur police range.
The objective of this comprehensive restructuring is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of law enforcement in Maharashtra by assuring better coordination and specialized focus in critical areas of policing.
