Chandigarh: Punjab Chief Minister, Bhagwant Mann has given the green flag to 58 new hi-tech ambulances, raising the ambulance fleet size in the state to 325. These ambulances are equipped with life-saving drugs and the latest medical equipment. The initiative aims to provide timely primary treatment to patients in distress and save their lives.
These ambulances work closely with the Road Safety Force to ensure that healthcare services are provided to people in case of emergency. They are GPS-enabled and are mandated to reach the needy in a few minutes. The Road Safety Force is coordinating through the 108 helpline number to use the ambulance services to save the lives of commuters who meet with road accidents.
The CM said that in the current year, these ambulances have been able to safely transport more than 1 lakh patients to the hospitals. These included 10,737 heart patients and 28,540 pregnant women.
