New Delhi: To combat Monkeypox, India has created its own domestic RT-PCR diagnostic kit, which has been authorized by the Central Protection Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO). Siemens Healthineers’ IMDX Monkeypox Detection RT-PCR Assay has been approved for production by the Central Drugs Standard Control Organisation (CDSCO). This is a crucial development in the fight against the public health emergency of monkeypox and is in line with the Government of India’s “Make in India” strategy.
The IMDX Monkeypox Detection RT-PCR Assay will be produced at our Vadodara molecular diagnostics manufacturing facility, which can produce one million reactions annually. According to Siemens Healthcare Private Ltd., the factory is prepared to start producing the kits. With its ability to detect a wide range of viral strains, the kit will provide comprehensive results. Siemens Healthcare Private Ltd states that the test results will be accessible in forty minutes. The assay has 100% sensitivity and specificity and was clinically verified by the ICMR-National Institute of Virology, Pune. The IMDX Monkeypox RTPCR Assay kits meet the highest international standards and are compliant with Indian legislation norms,” the statement stated.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared monkeypox to be the cause of its second international public health emergency earlier this week. This virus’s novel strain, known as Clad-1, is thought to be more contagious and to have a greater death rate.
