New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has inaugurated 75 road and bridge projects by the Border Roads Organisation (BRO), with a total investment of Rs 2,236 crore. Among these, 19 projects in Jammu & Kashmir are valued at Rs 731.22 crore, aimed at improving connectivity in remote areas.
Notable projects in J&K include the Bishnah-Kaulpur-Khojipur road, which costs Rs 73.26 crore, and the Basohli-Bani-Bhaderwah road, with two phases totaling Rs 179.18 crore. Additionally, 12 bridges were built in various locations for a combined cost of Rs 51.21 crore.
The virtual inauguration, held from Sukna in West Bengal, underscored BRO’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure despite difficult weather and terrain. Singh mentioned that BRO has completed 450 projects worth over Rs 16,000 crore in the last five years. This year’s dedication of 75 new projects brings the total to a record 111 initiatives, highlighting BRO’s vital role in improving national connectivity.
