Chandigarh, September 14 (APAC Media): In a minor administrative reshuffle, the Punjab government has transferred two IAS officers. As per the official notification, IAS Gurkirat Kirpal Singh has been appointed as the Principal Secretary of the Power Department.
Singh (2001 batch) has been entrusted with the new role in addition to his current role as the Principal Secretary of the Social Security, Women, and Child Development Department.Â
Additionally, he has also been given additional charges as the Principal Secretary of the New and Renewable Energy Sources; Chairman-cum-Managing Director (CMD) of Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd; and CMD of Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd.
In addition to the Social Security, Women, and Child Development Department, Singh previously also served as the Principal Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department; Investment Promotion; and Promotion of Information Technology Industry. He will no longer serve in these roles.
Subsequently, IAS Basant Garg (2005 batch) (2005, currently Administrative Secretary, Power and Administrative Secretary, New & Renewable Energy Sources with additional charge of Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Punjab State Transmission Corporation Ltd. and Chairman-cum-Managing Director, Punjab State Power Corporation Ltd. has been transferred as Administrative Secretary, Industries & Commerce, and in addition, Administrative Secretary, Investment Promotion with additional charge of Administrative Secretary, Promotion of Information Technology Industry.
The concerned officers have been directed by the Department of Personnel, Government of Punjab, to join their new offices with immediate effect.
