Mumbai: Maharashtra’s government has cleared two major industrial projects in the aerospace and silicon wafer sectors, set to bring Rs 29,550 crore in investments to Ratnagiri. Chief Minister Eknath Shinde approved the projects, expected to generate over 38,000 jobs.
The first project involves the production of silicon wafers and semiconductor components, with an IT Park company from Vellore investing Rs 19,550 crore in the Watad and Jhadgaon MIDC areas. This initiative aims to create 33,000 direct and indirect jobs.
The second project, led by Reliance Infrastructure, will focus on aerospace and security equipment. It represents Maharashtra’s first large-scale project in the sector, with an investment of Rs 10,000 crore and creating 4,500 jobs.
These projects are expected to drive local economic growth, strengthen technical capabilities, and improve the supply chain. The initiatives will also focus on skill development, particularly in advanced technologies, benefiting micro, small, and medium enterprises. Maharashtra aims to position itself as a key player in both the aerospace and semiconductor industries with these developments.
