Puri: The Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, officially unveiled 10 battery-operated vehicles at Shree Jagannath Temple, Puri. The initiative is part of the CSR program of the Indian Renewable Energy Development Agency (IREDA) Limited and aims to enhance eco-friendly mobility. The move is expected to particularly benefit senior citizens and divyangs visiting the temple.
Union Minister Joshi underlined the significance of sustainable solutions at cultural landmarks while handing over the car keys to the Chief Administrator of the Shree Jagannath Temple Administration. According to him, the use of battery-powered vehicles at the temple demonstrates the government’s dedication to renewable energy sources and provides guests with an accessible and eco-friendly mode of transportation.
IREDA’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD), Pradip Kumar Das, emphasized the organization’s commitment to sustainability and said that IREDA will support the deployment of ten environmentally friendly cars for the heritage site through its CSR programs. The initiative is in line with the organization’s objective of advancing renewable and sustainable energy sources to advance environmentally friendly transportation solutions.
