Vijayawada: The Andhra Pradesh government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Google to integrate Artificial Intelligence (AI) solutions in governance and other critical sectors. The agreement, formalized at the Secretariat in Vijayawada, aims to develop digital infrastructure, support startups, and enhance public services through AI-driven initiatives.
The MoU was signed by Lalita Ramani, General Manager of Google Maps India, and Suresh Kumar, Secretary of the Andhra Pradesh Real-Time Governance Society (RTGS), in the presence of Human Resource Development and RTG Minister Nara Lokesh. Key areas of focus under the partnership include skill development, AI training for startups and traditional industries, and integration of AI in healthcare and environmental sustainability.
According to the agreement, Google will conduct AI-related skill-building programs in schools and colleges, aiming to prepare students for opportunities in emerging industries. It will also work with small businesses and startups in the state to integrate AI solutions, supporting innovation and economic growth. The initiative includes introducing AI and Machine Learning (ML) technologies to enhance governance and improve service delivery, particularly in remote areas.
Highlighting the partnership’s potential, Lokesh said the initiative seeks to simplify government services, reduce bureaucratic hurdles, and improve public access to essential amenities through technology. He emphasized the state’s goal of fostering an AI-driven ecosystem to streamline complex operations and promote economic development.
Google representatives expressed their commitment to advancing AI-based solutions in Andhra Pradesh. Lalita Ramani noted that the collaboration aligns with the company’s efforts to leverage technology for solving societal challenges and enhancing public welfare.
The agreement also includes support for startups by building a robust ecosystem for innovation. Google Cloud India Vice-President Bikram Singh Bedi described the partnership as a step towards creating a skilled workforce and addressing critical sectors like healthcare and sustainability through AI integration.
State officials, including Economic Development Board CEO CM Saikanth Varma and RTGS CEO Dinesh Kumar, were present during the signing. This collaboration is expected to drive innovation, improve governance efficiency, and position Andhra Pradesh as a hub for AI development.
