Gurugram: Air India has become the first airline in India to offer in-flight Wi-Fi on domestic routes, a move that aligns with global trends in enhancing passenger convenience and connectivity. The service is available on select aircraft, including the Airbus A350, Boeing 787-9, and certain Airbus A321neo planes, enabling passengers to browse, work, text, or check social media at 10,000 feet.
The Wi-Fi service, accessible on devices like laptops, tablets, and smartphones, is offered free of charge. Passengers can connect multiple devices simultaneously, making the service particularly appealing to business travelers and tech-savvy passengers.
This rollout follows a successful pilot program on Air India’s international routes to destinations such as New York, London, Paris, and Singapore. According to Rajesh Dogra, Chief Customer Experience Officer at Air India, the initiative underscores the airline’s commitment to modernizing its services. Highlighting its significance, he stated, “Connectivity is now an integral part of modern travel. For some, it is about the convenience and comfort of real-time sharing, while for others, it is about greater productivity and efficiency. Whatever one’s purpose, we are confident that our guests will appreciate having the option of connecting to the web and enjoying the new Air India experience on board these aircraft,”
Once onboard, the passengers need to follow the given steps to access Wi-Fi:
Enable Wi-Fi on the device and navigate to Wi-Fi settings.
Select the ‘Air India Wi-Fi’ network.
Enter PNR and last name on the Air India portal.
Enjoy complimentary internet access.
