New Delhi: Digital mapping firm MapmyIndia has partnered with Qualcomm Technologies to develop automotive connectivity solutions aimed at boosting India’s ‘Make in India’ initiative for the automotive sector. The collaboration involves integrating Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Digital Chassis solutions with MapmyIndia’s MAPPLS services to deliver advanced telematics and connectivity features for automakers.
In its filing with the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), MapmyIndia outlined plans to integrate Qualcomm’s car-to-cloud services into its automotive platform, enabling the management of data, navigation, maps, and connected services. The initiative aims to make premium automotive features more accessible to Indian consumers by offering affordable, efficient solutions. Rakesh Verma, founder and managing director of MapmyIndia, stated that the collaboration will expand access to advanced telematics in the Indian automotive market, bringing connectivity and navigation services to a broader range of vehicles.
Recent Developments at MapmyIndia
This partnership comes amid MapmyIndia’s efforts to strengthen its footprint in the geotechnology sector. Recently, the company invested:
$4 million (INR 33.8 crore) for a 40% stake in PT Terra Link Technologies, its joint venture with Hyundai AutoEver.
INR 2 crore for a 19.84% stake in location intelligence startup Kaiinos Geo Spatial Technologies.
INR 3 crore to acquire a 9.37% stake in SimDaaS Autonomy Private Ltd, a SaaS platform for automobiles. Additionally, the board approved a $0.5 million investment in its subsidiary CE International.
Financial Performance
In Q2 FY25, MapmyIndia reported an 8% decline in consolidated profit after tax (PAT) to INR 30.35 crore, down from INR 33.09 crore in the same period last year. However, its revenue from operations increased by 14% year-on-year to INR 103.67 crore. The collaboration with Qualcomm aligns with MapmyIndia’s broader strategy to enhance its product offerings while supporting India’s goal of strengthening its domestic automotive sector.
