Nagpur: The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Nagpur and the National Power Training Institute (NPTI) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to develop programs aimed at addressing skill shortages in India’s energy and power sectors.
Focus on Energy Management and Policy Development
The collaboration will involve joint executive training programs designed for senior professionals, with a focus on energy management, power policies, and regulatory frameworks. These programs aim to equip professionals with the skills to navigate challenges in the evolving energy landscape.
Additionally, the partnership will introduce skilling initiatives targeting technical and managerial competencies, ensuring a pipeline of talent for the power sector.
Research and Consultancy Services
The MoU also emphasizes research and consultancy in energy policies and regulatory frameworks. Both institutions will collaborate to provide consultancy services to industry stakeholders, contributing to the development of efficient energy policies and promoting innovation in the sector.

“This partnership addresses the need for specialized expertise in energy and power management,” said Dr. Bhimaraya Metri, Director of IIM Nagpur. He added that the collaboration is a step toward building a sustainable energy future.
Dr. Tripta Thakur, Director General of NPTI, emphasized the importance of bridging skill gaps in the sector through focused training and capacity building.

The MoU was signed by Dr. Bhimaraya Metri and Dr. Tripta Thakur in the presence of senior officials from both institutions, including Prof. Nikunj Kumar Jain from IIM Nagpur and Dr. Indu Maheshwari, Principal Director at NPTI Nagpur.
