Bhubaneswar: Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated the ‘Utkarsh Odisha– Make in Odisha Conclave 2025’ at Bhubaneswar’s Janata Maidan, marking the largest business event in Odisha’s history. The two-day summit, organized by the Odisha government, aims to showcase the state as a key industrial hub in Eastern India, attracting domestic and international investments.
The opening ceremony was graced by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and Union ministers Dharmendra Pradhan and Ashwini Vaishnaw, along with prominent industry leaders such as Anil Agarwal, Naveen Jindal, Om Mangalam Birla, and Karan Adani. Business delegates and envoys from 16 countries also attended the event, featuring plenary sessions, sector-specific discussions, and thought leadership exchanges.
In his address, PM Modi underscored Odisha’s historical significance as a trade hub in Southeast Asia, highlighting its ports as vital gateways. “History is witness that when India had a big part in global growth, eastern India had a massive contribution towards it,” he said, expressing optimism about Odisha regaining its former economic prominence. He also urged industry leaders to support India’s journey toward self-reliance by reducing dependence on processed imports. “Our raw materials are exported and processed elsewhere, adding value outside India. This must change,” he emphasized, calling for collaborative efforts between the government, MSMEs, and start-ups to build robust ecosystems for manufacturing and raw material processing.
The conclave is expected to foster valuable networking opportunities among global industry leaders, policymakers, and investors while boosting Odisha’s role in driving India’s economic growth.
