Guwahati: The Assam government has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Hedge5 Manufacturing Solution Pvt Ltd to set up renewable energy and compressed biogas (CBG) projects in the state.
The investment, worth Rs 500 crore, aims to enhance Assam’s clean energy infrastructure and create 100 direct jobs.
Key Projects and Timeline
As per the MoU, signed on 26 February, Hedge5 will develop two major projects at multiple locations in Assam.
Renewable Energy Plant: The company plans to set up a 5 MW renewable power plant, integrating solar, wind, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) for round-the-clock electricity supply. The plant is expected to start operations by December 2025.
Compressed Biogas Plants: Hedge5 will establish five 5TPD CBG plants, with production expected to begin by January 2026.
Government Support and Regulatory Framework
The Assam government will facilitate approvals, clearances, and permissions required for the projects as per existing regulations.
Hedge5 will submit a Common Application Form (CAF) through the Assam Ease of Doing Business (EoDB) portal for statutory approvals before construction begins. The MoU will remain valid for 12 months, with an option for extension if required.

The agreement was signed by Chaitanyaram Joshi, COO of Hedge5, and Dr Krishna Kumar Dwivedi, Principal Secretary, Power (E) Department, Assam.
The partnership marks a step towards Assam’s renewable energy transition, with a focus on diversifying its power sources and promoting biofuel adoption.
