New Delhi: The National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) and the Association of Indian Universities (AIU) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to improve academic credential verification and integrate skill-based education in Indian universities.
Technology-Driven Verification System
The partnership aims to establish a digital verification system using the National Academic Depository (NAD) and institutional data. Universities and colleges will be able to process academic and professional verifications through online interfaces and API integration. The move is expected to streamline verification and reduce fraudulent credential practices.
Speaking on the collaboration, Ved Mani Tiwari, COO and officiating CEO of NSDC, highlighted that the initiative will align skill education with academic qualifications, enhancing India’s position as a global talent provider. AIU President Prof Vinay Kumar Pathak stated that the integration of skill-based courses with traditional education will help create a workforce equipped with both theoretical and practical knowledge.
Focus on Fraud Prevention and Global Recognition
To improve transparency, the NSDC Trust Platform will be used for credential validation and authentication. AIU will encourage Indian and foreign institutions within its network to adopt this platform for direct verification from issuing authorities.
Additionally, the partnership will introduce a global academic equivalence platform to compare educational qualifications across different countries.
While AIU will provide equivalence algorithms, NSDC will develop and manage the technology for the platform. This initiative aims to improve international trust in Indian educational credentials and ensure smoother academic mobility for students.
By combining technology-driven verification and skill integration, NSDC and AIU seek to strengthen the credibility of Indian higher education and create a more transparent system for academic and skill-based qualifications.
